Steve Byrum is a pastor, entrepreneur and cultural thought leader who is also the founder of Mosaic, a community of faith in Hampton Roads Virginia. He earned his BBA in Marketing & Management from JMU in 1983, a Masters of Divinity w Languages from Southeastern Theological Seminary in 1991 and had done post-graduate work in Chemistry at ODU in 1994 in preparation for entering the MD program at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Steve has been on staff at three large churches in Raleigh, NC, Norfolk, VA and Chesapeake, VA as Discipleship and Single Adult pastor since 1989. Steve and his wife Susan of 30 years have three children, Bethany, Nathan and Heather.
Steve and his wife planted Mosaic in Norfolk, VA in October 2007. He began working with the CMDA at EVMS in the spring of 2008. Over the years, Steve has provided continuity of care for the students, faculty and the staff of EVMS through Bible studies, worship services, retreats, outreaches and service events throughout Hampton Roads. He has participated in EVMS graduations by praying and leading Baccalaureate services. He led a medical missions team to Haiti just after the devastating earthquake of 2010. On a weekly basis, Steve helps the student leadership teach and run the Bible studies on campus.
Steve works and meets with local physicians as an encourager, a coach in evangelism and is developing a mentoring network for the students of EVMS. Steve works with his local council to introduce the healthcare community of Hampton Roads to Jesus and to help transform those followers into the image of Christ in their practices.
