Rick Schurman, PT

Rick Schurman PT, Cert. MDT, is a graduate of Northwestern University's Programs in Physical Therapy (Chicago) and has been practicing since 1977. After 25 years of private practice, Rick is now working in an outpatient clinic in Central Wisconsin. In 1999, he passed the credentialing exam for the McKenzie Method of treatment of Mechanical Extremity and spinal pain. He has volunteered with GHO since 2004 and has been yearly to the Dominican Republic since that year. He has also taught with Medical Education International in Cameroon, Western Africa
Rick became a Christian at age 13. He has been married to Dyann since 1973 and they have two adult children. His son Andy is a police officer in Chicago, is married to Danielle and they are blessed with three children, Clark, Lily and Crosby. Rick's daughter Melissa is married to Adolfo Castillo whom she met while working in the Dominican Republic. She taught at Kings Christian School which is affiliated with the Oasis church, the GHO partner in Santo Domingo. They now live in Madison, Wisconsin.
Rick has been active as an elder in his church, in Christian camping and now most recently in medical missions. He is eager to share his experiences and is available for consultation concerning any specific questions about the use of physical therapy in the developing world.
