Gary and Marlene Cameron
Associate Staff; South Florida
Gary grew up in the Chicago suburbs. In the early 70s he committed his life to Jesus. Marlene’s story started in Havana, Cuba where she grew up. When she was 15, she and her family moved to Miami and at 16 she committed her life to Christ. Gary and Marlene met in Miami and were married in 1981. By the early 90s they had 4 beautiful kids and were on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. In 2003 they were asked to pioneer Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM) in South Florida at both Florida International University (FIU) and UM.
Gary serves as the Gulf States Area Director for GFM. In 2012 he received his MDiv from Regent College, Vancouver, Canada. Marlene serves part-time with GFM and is about finished with her ThM (2016), also from Regent. They were asked by CMDA to be involved as Associate staff since 2007 providing pastoral counsel, small group leadership training, and assistance in chapter development. Since 2012 they also assist students at FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Together, they coordinate a one-day spiritual retreat in their home in South-Dade near Fruit and Spice Park, specifically for medical students. These retreats are usually held before school semesters begin and are designed to enhance a student’s life of prayer and vital relationship with Christ during medical school.
Gary and Marlene love gardening, painting and drawing, and watching good films together with friends.
