CMDA National Headquarters 2604 U.S. Hwy 421, n/a, Tennessee Bristol, US

Mediatraining

The Christian Medical & Dental Associations is increasingly called on by the national media to give perspective on ethical questions triggered by changing medical technology. From congressional testimony to network television, God continues to open doors for CMDA to amplify the voice of Christian healthcare professionals on the critical life issues of our day.

The two-day training is designed to teach participants how to use the media as an educational tool and to sharpen skills as CMDA media representatives. We will share a proven methodology that works in the most hostile situations. Real-life examples will illustrate this method, then we will work with each participant one-on-one as we practice in the radio and television studios. The individualized instruction will include tips on crafting messages, appearance, voice tone and delivery.

The workshop teaches attendees how to:

  • Prepare for a media interview.
  • Control the “agenda” during a media interview.
  • Turn every media encounter into an opportunity to educate.
  • Avoid being misquoted.
  • Turn soundbites into headlines.
  • Become a repeat guest source.
  • Make news, not noise.

Plus, we will explore how advocacy and media work hand-in-hand together and how to prepare to use your media skills to testify in your state legislature.

Participation is limited to 12 attendees in order to provide one-on-one training.

Bristol sits on the Tennessee/Virginia state line, so some hotels are in Tennessee and others are in Virginia. Some of the hotels listed here are located at I-81 exit 7 in Bristol, Virginia. This is a hotel/restaurant/shopping hub of the immediate area, but it is approximately a 25-minute drive to CMDA. The Bristol Hotel located downtown is the closest to CMDA, still probably a 12- to 15-minute drive. There are also a few hotels available at Exit 74 off I-81 on the Tennessee side.
