Further Details: The Nigerian Medical Mission will differ from our other missions in that we will actually have two partners in ministry: 1) Nigeria CMDA - it is hoped that our partnership will increase the number of Nigerian physicians and dentists willing to participate in medical missions and 2) Pro-Health International (West Africa) - Pro-Health has the resources, equipment, supplies and contacts necessary to put together this aggressive and important mission.
We have been warmly received by Nigerian Government Medical officials and look forward to continuing to build that relationship in the years to come.
Another major component of our mission is to help attack the scourge that is sweeping over Africa, so we will be having an HIV/AIDS education program for our captive audience of waiting patients - I looked into the availability of culturally appropriate, language specific presentations and we will be presenting the information audio visually for the most part as many of the people are illiterate. We will have some handouts available as well.
We will have a kitchen crew come with us to prepare food for the international team (half from the USA and half from Nigeria is our plan).
This will be a very demanding mission for the team and in order to have it work well we need to high level of cooperation and integration of logistics between all three organizations involved as partners in this outreach mission to Nigeria.
