Trip Details: Come join us for an unparalleled experience in the ancient country of India. GHO's mission trip to India continues our advancement of the Great Commission to the 10/40 window. This region of the world accounts for the greatest number of unreached people groups for Christ, the least evangelized countries in an area comprised of three dominant religions: Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist. This is a vast region with Biblical and historical significance in which masses of humanity are living in poverty and neglect.
India, a country with the seventh largest geographical area and the second largest population in the world (1.2 billion people), has 250 million souls - almost the population of the US - that are classified as "Untouchables" by the standards of Indian society. Hindus make up 80% of the total population with Muslims accounting for about 13%. Christians are only about 3% of the population. The message of the unconditional love of God and eternal life from faith in the finished work of Christ is in sharp contrast to a belief system involving a myriad of gods and the need to work out salvation through self-efforts. Bringing this message through our service and our words is like offering a cold drink to a thirsty soul.
GHO will be partnering with Hindustan Bible Institute, led by President Dr. Paul "Bobby" Gupta. www.globalpartners.com Founded in 1952 with a passion to reach the unevangelized masses in India by equipping nationals to reach their countrymen, HBI has faithfully served the Lord in all corners of India. Our team will have the privilege of serving alongside our Indian brothers and sisters in medical clinics in the Chennai area.
We will fly into Chennai, a city of almost 9 million people located on the southeastern coast of India, and stay at HBI's campus in Chennai. From that location the team will go to nearby villages to conduct primary care clinics. We are praying for physicians, dentists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, pastors, and other personnel to be led by the Lord to join us on this trip for an unforgettable experience in a country rich with history and filled with beautiful and profoundly appreciative people. We will likely be joined by Indian medical personnel to augment and enhance our outreach in the name of Jesus. Additionally, as time and personnel allow, we hope to be able to spend time in preventative health education in the villages we visit.
Having been to India several times for mission trips, I can testify that you will be challenged and humbled by the spirit, dedication and passion of the Christians in India who serve the Lord in the face of relentless opposition. Spiritual warfare is not foreign to mission teams, and a solid prayer support structure is important along with daily devotions, prayer and creating a strong team bond.
We are praying that the Lord will move the hearts of those He has chosen to be part of this dedicated team who will have the opportunity to display the love and compassion of Christ in this amazing country. Our Lord said "as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me". A favorite quote is what St. Francis was reported to have said: “preach the gospel at all times and if necessary use words.”
