PAN-AFRICAN ACADEMY OF CHRISTIAN SURGEONS (PAACS)

Image

The Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) is an international organization dedicated to developing quality training programs in general surgery at Christian hospitals in Africa, and to assuring a high level of professional competence among its members.

The PAACS, in partnership with the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, is offering specialty training in general surgery in Africa to African physicians. The Training Centers are located at selected rural Christian hospitals on the continent that are known for the quality of their surgical services and are directed by experienced, board-certified general surgeons. Two new programs in Kenya opened in 2008 and one in Cameroon opened in January, 2009. Eight more hospitals would like to join – and we need YOU!

There are several mission hospitals who are interested in becoming a PAACS training site. The major limitation for all of them is the identification of two qualified program directors who will commit to long term work at these hospitals as missionary surgeons. Many of them will also need help with building additional hospital facilities and housing for the residents and program directors. Some need help with equipment to come up to standard. Please consider whether God would have you serve at or help with one of these hospitals:

• Banso Baptist Hospital, Kumbo, Cameroon

• Karolyn Kempton Memorial Hospital, Tsiko, Togo

• Galmi Hospital, Galmi, Niger

• Evanglical Medical Center, Lubango, Angola

• Myungsung Christian Medical Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

• Harpur Memorial Hospital, Menouf, Egypt

• Karanda Mission Hospital, Mt. Darwin, Zimbabwe

• Ogbomosho Baptist Hospital, Ogbomosho, Nigeria
