Further Details:  Team members include volunteer doctors, nurses, technicians, students and other healthcare professionals from across the country. Team size for this trip is limited to 18.

Travel: US citizens do not need a visa to enter Guatemala, however you MUST have a current passport. It is a GHO requirement that all members travel internationally with GHO. Please do not forget to complete the Travel Permission form and Waiver of Responsibility to send in with your application. If you apply online, you can download the .pdf files of the above mentioned waivers and fax them to us. Please note all instructions on the application page including those regarding domestic travel.

Immunizations: Start ASAP on any necessary series. Please check with your local Department of Health and Travel Documents Systems (info@traveldocs.com) for up-to-date information. Hepatitis A vaccine is recommended for everyone and Hepatitis B is recommended for healthcare workers (those who will be coming in contact with blood/body fluids). Malaria prophylaxis is recommended (although we will be staying at an elevation of about 7,000 feet - above the danger zone for malaria bearing mosquitos).

Medicines and Supplies: Every team member should access all available sources of supplies to take with us. We especially need antibiotics, analgesics, vitamins, and worm medicines. We cannot take any expired medicines. This is often checked and no variance is allowed. Each team member may take one carry-on and two 50 lb checked pieces of luggage. Plan to use one checked bag for your personal belongings and please reserve the second piece for medicines and supplies, some of which will be sent to you by GHO.
