Trip Details: We will be working again with
John and Marilyn Guido as well as Bob and Lauren Capaldi who serve with
the Verbo church in Cuenca providing leadership for the Fundacion Hogar
de Ecuador, which has a modern OR and clinic. We have been serving with
them through our GHO teams since the late 90’s. Tammy Vintimilla
is Marilyn’s colleague and handles much of the team logistics and
her husband, Fernando, is the Fundacion Administrator. You will enjoy
getting to know all of them and the great Verbo and Fundacion host
team.
Our two week team normally finds us the first week serving a town or
city where Verbo has a church or wanting to plant a church. Our GHO team
is utilized to encourage the local church and be a catalyst to bring new
people to the clinic site where they can have their bodies healed and
their souls restored. The second week we travel to Cuenca to serve the
local people there at the Fundacion clinic site.
We would like to have a team of 30 who will provide medical, dental,
and physical therapy clinics as well as a surgical component. Our local
Verbo team will be evangelizing each day among the crowds that fill the
clinic site, as will encourage our GHO team to listen and pray with any
and all patients we see. We need logistics folks in many "helping"
capacities and strive to have a pastor on each GHO team as well.
Ecuador (Equator in Spanish) is a beautiful country with colorful
varieties of landscapes (jungles, coastal areas, Andes mountains) as
well as peoples, including many Indian groups whose languages, dress and
customs add wonderful hues to the kaleidoscope. Cuenca is located at
about 8,000+ feet, therfore has delightful weather year round--cool in
the evenings and warm during the day--while Guayaquil, for example, is
on the coast and very warm year round.
We stay in modest hotels where we are normally served breakfast and
suppers, and lunch is provided on site by our Verbo hosts. We enjoy warm
fellowship through morning/evening devotions and worship, evening
debriefing times, and opportunities to share with your team mates.
This team tends to fill up quickly so get your application in early
to be considered for the team.
