Trip Details: We will be providing
medical, dental (exodontias and restorative), and ophthalmologic
services. Working in the shadow of one of the tallest mountains in the
world, daily trips to the villages will involve primitive conditions
with limited access to electricity and running water. All the work will
be done at elevations of 9,000-11,000 feet, with possible excursions to
even higher altitudes, so participants need to be in good physical
condition.
We are looking for primary care physicians (and extended care
providers like NPs and PAs), general dentists (with a good grasp of
exodontia), oral surgeons, optometrists, nurses, medical and dental
students, pharmacists, physical therapists, general helpers, and Spanish
interpreters. This is a good trip for “first-timers.” A
limited number of spots are available for spouses and teenage children.
The trip space is limited, and available on a “first-come,
first-serve” basis. Complete GHO applications must arrive at the
GHO office in order to be considered for the trip. CME credits are
available for health professionals.
The cost will be between $1800-2000 per person, and is all-inclusive,
covering all transportation, meals, and tourist activities. (Note: This
is an estimate. GHO project fees are $1200 plus international airfare at
time of ticketing.) For more information regarding this trip, contact gho@cmda.org or Dr. Phil Aday adaydds@sbcglobal.net .
