Trip Details: As this will be a family trip, children
12 years or older are welcome to accompany you. Their
responsibilites will be as "helpers" in the pharmacy, dental clinic,
optometry, physical therapy, medical clinic, and supporting the local
church who will have daily programs for children.
We will be hosted by one of our most exciting and competent national
churches, the Oasis Church led by Pastor Tomas Martinez. This
church has done a marvelous job supporting our trip’s logistics
and providing spiritual counselors who have been very effective
evangelists. Pastor Tomas works diligently to coordinate
discipleship efforts for those who make a decision for Christ.
Working with nearly 200 members from the Oasis Church is one
of the highlights of the trip.
We plan to daily travel via bus from Santa Domingo where we stay each
night in a hotel to an area within a 30-60 minute drive of the capital
city to some of the Haitian refugee areas. If your heart has been
moved by the tragedy in Haiti, this may be God’s call to join us
with this medical mission. In previous years, the evangelistic
effort has produced a great harvest!
What Can You Expect From This Mission Trip?
• To have your life changed by being taken out of your comfort
zone and put into a situation where the Lord can speak to your heart and
mind in a special way.
• To experience a cross-cultural doctor-patient
relationship.
• To appreciate the practice of medicine and dentistry with
limited resources.
• To gain opportunities to treat the whole person by speaking
to the patient’s spiritual needs as you share your faith.
• To be exposed to similar needs all over the world and to
develop a global heart for seeing this world won to Christ.
• To support the work of Pastor Tomas and Dionnis as we
minister together to people in the name of Christ.
