J. Scott Ries, MD, FAAFP
Dr. J. Scott Ries is an award winning family
physician who has joined the Christian Medical and Dental Associations
(CMDA) as Vice President of Campus and Community Ministries. His
clinical career has included faculty appointments at Indiana University
School of Medicine and Butler University, and has spanned from academic
medicine, to clinical research, to full time private practice. Dr.
Ries’ training has included graduating from programs at University
of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Indiana University, Liberty University
and University of South Florida (Florida Hospital).
Dr. Ries has been involved in all levels of
CMDA for 20 years, starting as a medical student leader on the campus of
Indiana University School of Medicine and continuing as Resident Trustee
on the CMDA Board of Trustees. As a Team Leader with Global Health
Outreach, he has led over 100 medical and dental students to follow
God’s call to serve on medical missions’ experiences. Dr.
Ries has served on the CMDA Board of Trustees.
No stranger to media, Dr. Ries has served as
medical consultant to NBC, CBS, FOX and ABC network affiliates in both
on and off air capacities for over 10 years. His well-rounded medical
expertise has also been featured in a variety of radio and print
interview formats, and has represented CMDA on various medical
topics.
Dr. Ries met his bride, Jodi, while a student
at Liberty University. Formerly a vocalist for the Walt Disney World
group, Voices of Liberty, Jodi has continued her music ministry to
churches and women’s conferences across the country. Together with
their three children, Grace, Lauren and Jason, the Ries family has been
active in their local church where Dr. Ries has served as Adult Sunday
School Teacher and Deacon.
