Dr. Molind left his Montpelier, VT, practice in 1998 to begin Global
Health Outreach (GHO). Prior to his work with GHO, Dr. Molind

Medical School. In addition to his work with AAOMS, Dr. Molind was
president of the medical staff at the Central Vermont Medical Center,
was a board examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgeons for six years and was the president of the Vermont State Dental
Society.
Dr. Molind and his wife, Dorothy, began a Crisis Pregnancy Center in
Central Vermont where Dorothy served as the Executive Director. Sam and
Dorothy have been active in establishing the Good Samaritan Haven, an
emergency shelter for the homeless, and the Health & Wellness Clinic
for the underinsured and uninsured in central Vermont.
Dr. Molind, a lifetime member of the Christian Medical & Dental
Associations, has participated in numerous short-term medical missions
since 1985. He has been on the CMDA board of trustees and served on the
Biomedical Ethics Commission. Dr. Molind has led surgical teams into
Hanoi, Vietnam for 10 years to help develop their maxillofacial surgical
residency program and has helped organize and develop maxillofacial
surgical programs in Afghanistan and in the Philippines.
As the Director of Global Health Outreach Sam and his staff organize,
supervise and train leaders to bring teams into developing countries
around the world. To care for those who are poor in body and spirit and
to share the love and the compassion of Christ with those who are lost
without help and without hope.
In April of 2005, Dr. Molind was the first time recipient of the
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Citation from
the Bureau of Global Health for outstanding support of their mission by
training Maxillofacial Surgeons, providing medical, surgical and dental
care and for his commitment to improve the lives of many thousands of
people around the world.
Dr. Molind received the American Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons’ 2006 Presidential Achievement Award.
The Presidential Achievement Award recognizes those fellows and members
of the AAOMS whose important and long-standing contributions have
benefited the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the areas
of clinical, academic, research and public service activities.
When they have a break from their many travels, you will find Sam and
Dorothy in New England with their four children and eight
grandchildren.
