I am a dentist in family practice in a small town in southwest
Michigan. After graduating from the University of Detroit dental
school in 1981, I served as chief resident in a hospital based general
practice residency in upstate New York. It was there that our
oldest son was born prompting us to return home to Michigan. I
opened my solo private practice in Allegan in 1983. I also served
as the dental director for a migrant dental health program from 1983 to
1988. I am also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
My awesome wife Margaret and I have three mostly grown children, one of
whom is married. We also have a border collie, my jogging partner,
named Paddy. I serve as an elder in our church and have
taught an adult Bible study class for most of the past 18 years.
My goal is to live for the glory of God. Participating in GHO short term
mission trips has been a critical catalyst greatly used by God in my
personal spiritual growth and development. Also taking the
Perspectives class on the World Christian Movement (perspectives.org)
has been instrumental in helping me see the role God would have us play
in advancing His kingdom. I love to read books, especially dealing
with Christian theology, leadership and biographies of Christian
“heroes of the faith”. My other hobby is
photography.
As a Team Leader my goal is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in bearing
eternal fruit in the lives of those we minister to and in the lives of
the team members … all to the glory of God, while having fun at
the same time! To be used by God, to see Him working in your
midst, to feel the very love and compassion of God flowing through you
… that is as good as it gets!
Serving on a GHO trip is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. And,
by the way, you need not be a medical or dental provider. All that
is required is a heart’s desire to be a servant! God can and
will do the rest!
