Mark was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and at an early age
began traveling overseas with his parents. Although they lived in
various places, Venezuela was their home for six years.
Upon leaving Venezuela, Mark returned to Canada to complete his
schooling. He attended the University of Toronto for his Medical
Degree and Dalhousie University for his residency in Family
Medicine.
Between second and third year of medical school, Mark did his
first mission trip to the Chapare area of Bolivia for three
months. It was there he came face to face with God. Even
though he was raised in the church, a personal relationship with Jesus
had not existed. In Bolivia, Mark accepted Christ and a new life
began.
Shortly thereafter, Mark met Joy, an energetic nurse. They
eventually wed and after residency they moved to Massachusetts where
Mark practiced family medicine for 8 years.
It was there that a colleague introduced him to CMDA/GHO. In
2002, Mark made his first trip with the GHO. In 2006, God put it
on Mark and Joy’s heart to step up and lead teams to
Guatemala.
Mark is a Family Physician and ER doctor in rural Ontario. Joy
is a certified Registered Nurse. They have four children, Sierra,
Kylee, TJ and Josiah.
Their desire is to be God’s hands and feet to all they have the
privilege of serving.
