I am Mark J. Snell, MD, FACS and I was born in Colorado Springs,
Colorado. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was eight
years old. I attended the Air Force Academy for one year and then
completed my B.A. at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA in
1980. I received my M.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia,
School of Medicine in 1985.
I completed my residency in General Surgery at David Grant Medical
Center, Travis AFB in 1990. I retired from the military in 2005 and now
work half time at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, CA and also do
short term medical mission work.
I am a life member of CMDA, a fellow of the American College of
Surgeons, and a member of the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons. I
am on the Board of Regents of Vision International University, a Board
Member of Anchor of Hope Ministries and the medical advisor to Mission
Builders International.
My missions experience include Mexico, Russia and Venezuela, and my
medical missions experience include Nigeria, Cameroon and Liberia.
My wife, Yvonne, and I reside in Washington state and have two living
grown children, Marika, who is married and lives in Virginia Beach, VA
and Joel, who currently lives at home in Washington. Our second child,
Jonathan, died of lymphoma on his 21st birthday in January 2006.
