Dr. Daren Marionneaux is a native of Monroe, Louisiana and currently
serves as a family physician in private practice in Augusta,
Georgia. He is married to his former high school sweetheart,
Dana. They have three children – Alan Michael, Rachel and
Hannah.
Dr. Marionneaux completed his bachelor’s degree in biology from
Eastern Kentucky University and his medical degree from the University
of Kentucky. He served as an officer in the US Army from 1991 to
1996, completing his family practice internship and residency at
Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. He then
served on the Family Practice department faculty for two additional
years, prior to completing his military service. He returned to
his hometown of Richmond, Kentucky where he practiced solo for three
years, finally returning to the Augusta area in September 1999.
Dr. Marionneaux currently serves on the CMDA-Augusta Council.
This year he accepted the call to begin serving part-time in ministry as
the CMDA-Augusta Associate Director for Missions, where he will
coordinate the missions’ efforts of the local chapter.
He felt the Lord’s prompting to go on his first GHO
mission trip in 2004 to La Esperanza, Honduras with Andy Sanders serving
as his team leader and mentor. That first trip was truly a
life-changing experience. He was privileged to serve alongside his
father, Ron Marionneaux, who was on his first overseas mission trip as
well. He has since been fortunate to return to Honduras on two
additional trips, to Tela in 2006 and most recently to San Marcos de
Colon in July 2007. He spent an additional few days in Managua,
Nicaragua at the conclusion of that last Honduras trip. In the
spring of 2008, he plans to travel to the countries of Trinidad and
Moldova, prior to leading a GHO team back to San Marcos de Colon,
Honduras in July 2008.
As a team leader, Dr. Marionneaux’s goal is to create an
atmosphere where team members are encouraged and challenged to grow in
their walk with Christ. Trips will include dedicated time for team
praise and worship, along with personal testimonies and team
devotions. There will opportunities to serve on the team in
various capacities. The hope is that whether it’s your first
short-term mission trip or you are a veteran, you will be drawn closer
to the Lord and as a result, you will be transformed, not returning the
same as when you began the trip. This will occur as you serve alongside
others in humility, sharing the love of Christ and living out the Great
Commission. What a joy and a privilege it is to be a part of
God’s kingdom-building plans -- to Him we give all the praise and
glory !!
