Andrew Sanders graduated from the University of Maryland School of
Medicine in 1981. His residency in Internal Medicine was done at Walter
Reed Army Medical Center. In 1984 he and his young family moved to
Madigan Army Medical Center where he served on the teaching staff until
he left active military service in 1988. Dr. Sanders and his
family then moved to Augusta, GA to begin a private practice career in
Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Except for a period
of time in Saudi Arabia when the Army called him back into active
duty, Dr. Sanders and his family have lived in Augusta.
Shortly after arriving in Augusta, Dr. Sanders helped begin a Bible
Study Fellowship chapter for men in Augusta. He served as the
teaching leader for that ministry for its initial eleven years.
Around the year 2000 the Lord began leading Dr. Sanders into more
focused ministry to his colleagues. At that time he cut his
practice in half and began serving as Augusta’s first Area
Director for CMDA. He became very active leading mission trips for
CMDA (Global Health Outreach), and in helping to develop the spiritual
ministry that GHO seeks to have with all its participants. In 2005
he left his practice to begin doing this ministry work full
time.
Dr. Sanders is married to Ilene. They have 5 children, ranging
from 26 to 13. Their family has been blessed with two
daughter-in-laws over the past few years.
