Colette Davis is the Chief Financial Officer of CMDA. She is a CPA (certified public accountant) and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accounts. She is also a member of the Christian Management Association. In her early work years, Colette worked in banking and then became a stay-at-home mom until she returned to college to get a degree in accounting. Colette served as an auditor in public accounting before coming to work for CMDA in June of 1995. Colette states, "I love working for CMDA -- I love the job, I love the people I work with, I love being part of the ministry, and I love our members."
Image Connie Fox has been CMDA's Controller since 1997. He is responsible making sense of the incoming money and outgoing money, and producing financial reports used by every ministry of CMDA. Yes, we have another person that loves to work with numbers in accounting and we are glad for that. Connie is a creative problem solver, spending late nights investing time for long-term gain. With a supportive wife and two lovely daughters, Connie spends his other waking hours going to soccer games and attempting to be a Christian role model.
Image Nancy Embree has been employed at CMDA since September 1996 as an Assistant Accountant. Her main responsibility is in Accounts Payable, but she also assists Accounts Receivable as necessary. In addition, she performs many other duties such as research, balancing of accounts and handling issues from our constituents. Before coming to CMDA, Nancy worked in banking for 20 years and for the Bristol Va. Police Department. “I did not realize the blessing God was giving me until I had worked here for a few months and saw how different it was to work with Christian brothers and sisters. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband Ron for 35 years; he was a Bristol Va. Police Officer until he retired 4 years ago. We have one son Bryan married to Sherry. My family loves camping and we all try to go to the mountains as often as we can.”
Image Lois McArdle is Assistant Cash Receipts Clerk helping with daily cash receipts and other accounting procedures when needed. Her education background is in accounting as the majority of Lois' years in the public work force have been in accounting. Before joining CMDA in July 1995 she retired from Sprint telecommunications in Bristol, TN. Lois and her husband, Jack, who is a volunteer with CMDA, have been married 50 years. They have one son, Jack, Jr. and daughter, Mary Beth Grizzel and three grandchildren. She says "It is wonderful to work in the ministry of CMDA and to see God's hand at work on the mission of this organization."

Administration

Image Debra Deyton is the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Senior Vice President, primarily responsible for management and day-to-day operations of the CEO’s office. Her start in the healthcare profession was as a naïve 19-year-old working in an OB/Gyn practice as the doctor’s assistant. Reasons for leaving the job were ethical and she desired opportunity to stand more boldly against abortion. In 1998, she was asked to join CMDA as administrative assistant to what was then the Advancement department, which included Media and Public Policy. She later moved to the Digital Media Center helping to produce educational resources on abortion and other ethical issues. Debra now serves CMDA’s leadership at the executive and governance level. “My role may be small, but I am honored to serve a ministry that is at the forefront in the war on ethics. I am thankful for that OB doctor who took me at age 19 on one OB hospital call that opened my eyes to the miracle of birth! It was also good training for the future job of delivering my 3 sons (not all at the same time).”
Image Dr. Gene Rudd is Senior Vice President with responsibility for overseeing the operations of CMDA. He trained and served in the military as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist before entering private practice in an underserved area of North Carolina. Before joining CMDA in 1995 he served at Samaritan’s Purse and led work in Russia, Bosnia and Rwanda. He has edited many of CMDA’s books including Practice by the Book, the manifesto on what it means to be a Christian doctor. He is a nice guy, turns a mean bowl and is a great neighbor!
Image Dr. David Stevens serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Christian Medical & Dental Associations. From 1981 to 1991, Dr. Stevens served as a missionary doctor in Kenya helping to transform Tenwek Hospital into one of the premier mission healthcare facility. Subsequently, he served as the Director of World Medical Mission, the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse, assisting mission hospitals and leading medical relief teams into war and disaster zones. As a leading spokesman for Christian doctors in America, Dr. Stevens has conducted hundreds of television, radio and print media interviews. Dr. Stevens holds degrees from Asbury College and the University of Louisville School of Medicine and is board certified in family practice. He earned a master’s degree in bioethics from Trinity International University in 2002.

Campus & Community Ministries

Image Rev. Scott Boyles is the Northeast Regional Director for CMDA, responsible for encouraging our members as they seek to follow the Lord as healthcare practioners, and the growth of the Christian community within healthcare in the Northeast. For most of his life God has led Scott to participate in cross-cultural ministries like ministering through English as a second language in Korea and West Africa as well as helping lead inner-city ministry in New Orleans. After joining CMDA in 2002, Scott realized that God had continued to lead him into cross-cultural ministry as he crossed into the culture of healthcare to help God’s people live out His calling. The great joys in his life are his wife, their children, a toddler and an infant, and the occasional quiet moment.
Image Misty Carter began working for CMDA in January 2000 as Resource Fulfillment Specialist. She later became the Administrative Assistant in GHO and now works part time with Campus and Community Ministry in CMDA. Misty's responsibilities include secretarial support for the CCM Department to help achieve the goals and vision of CCM. Center for Medical Missions

Image Susan Carter, BSN, MPH is the Director of the Center for Medical Missions, CMDA’s ministry that seeks to inspire, educate and equip healthcare personnel for long-term medical mission service. Prior to joining CMDA, Susan spent 23 years as a missionary in Kenya where she held multiple positions at Tenwek Hospital. Her first love was teaching and equipping people in rural communities to be healthy and provide well for their children. In 1994 though, she became the hospital CEO. Susan joined CMDA in 2003 after leaving Kenya when the Kenyan she mentored for seven years took over the leadership of Tenwek Hospital. She finds her varied missionary experience invaluable in her CMDA role.

In addition to serving at CMDA Daniel works part time at the VA Hospital in Johnson City. He also enjoys many hobbies including building, woodworking, fly-fishing, boating, skiing, animal safaris and more.

Communications

Image Lynnia Graybeal is the Communications Assistant at CMDA and handles many media and research responsibilities for the organization. Lynnia first joined CMDA in July 2008 in the Membership Department. She has been the Media & Research Assistant since March 2009. When not at work Lynnia is enjoying her two young daughters and husband.
Image Margie Shealy is the Vice President of Communications promoting the mission and vision of CMDA through facilitation of written and oral communications. "I love developing relationships with the media, but even better I love developing Godly relationships with our members." Margie joined CMDA in 2002. She believes her previous 22 years of experience in television and healthcare was God's preparation to fulfill her role at CMDA. Her interests in human behavior has developed her into a people-watcher, but her respect for privacy even in public places creates a dilemma so she goes to places like the Bristol race and ballgames where she tries to inconspicuously watch others.

  Digital Media Center

Image David Bushong is the Director of the Digital Media Center. In 1995 David joined the staff of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations and started the Digital Media Center for CMDA. Currently the Digital Media Center provides audio files, videos, and still images to produce resources for the Christian Medical & Dental Associations. Before coming to CMDA Dave served with World Gospel Mission. He loves windsurfing and radio-controlled airplanes.

David joined CMDA in 2003. He loves the challenges of his job. His interest of how things work started at a young age with the disassemble and reassemble of toys and machines.
Image Robert Howard has been the Mailroom Manager for CMDA since 2002. He is responsible for cost effectively getting large volumes of mail distributed internally and externally. Not such an easy job when everyone wants their shipments distributed quickly but cheap. Robert is a minister and often helps with our Chapel Services preaching in the old-time tradition. His twin brother claims to be the "good" one. But it would be hard to prove to the CMDA staff.

Global Health Outreach

Image Shelby Blevins is the Orientation Team Associate for Global Health Outreach. "Not only do I have the opportunity to help each participant of our GHO teams get ready to go to the far corners of the earth, but I have the ultimate opportunity to help build the Kingdom of God!" Shelby joined Global Health Outreach in 2005. Her love for the outdoors includes adventures you would never imagine - the more challenging and dangerous, the better.
Image Ron Brown is the Assistant Director for Global Health Outreach. Sue Buyck now serves CMDA as the Project Coordinator in Global Health Outreach (GHO) and is looking forward to new challenges in her new position.  A “transplant” from Life & Health Resources, she served four years there before transferring to GHO in April of 2009. A native of Detroit, she is still a big Red Wings hockey fan and watches their games whenever possible.

Image Donna Dixon joined CMDA in February 2008 as the Finance Administrative Assistant. She praises God for the joyous opportunity to be placed in a Christian organization. Before coming to CMDA, Donna had worked at a local hospital most of her life, with an 8 ½ year maternity leave, as she jokingly tells everyone. During this extended leave she had two daughters, Mara and Abbey. She happily tells people she is blessed with the world's greatest husband who was her high school sweetheart. "God has greater plans for us all if we will only accept His will and let Him give us the answers, sometimes before there is ever even a question", as Donna has recently discovered with her move to Global Health Outreach as Inventory Manager. "God again has shown how intimately involved He is in every aspect of my life. When GHO was short a team member, I began having a burning in my heart for GHO. Before long I realized that it was because God was leading me to help fill this spot". Like so many other times when God has taken over, the first words out of her mouth was "AMAZING", because He is.
Image Dr. Samuel Molind serves as the Director of Global Health Outreach, the international mission department of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations. Dr. Molind is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who was in practice for 26 years in Montpelier, Vermont. As the Director of Global Health Outreach Sam and his staff organize, supervise and train leaders to bring teams into developing countries around the world. To care for those who are poor in body and spirit and to share the love and the compassion of Christ with those who are lost without help and without hope. Sam’s heart is to be a blessing to the Lord and be obedient to His calling so His Lord and Savior Jesus would receive glory, honor and praise.
Image Alicia Trivett is currently serving as GHO Administrative Assistant, however, since coming to CMDA in 1996, she has filled many roles within the organization, including the mailroom, resources and membership. She has had the opportunity to work closely with the accounting and IT departments, thus giving her a broad understanding of CMDA. Her current role allows her to build relationships with people around the world while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Information Technology

Image Boyce Allison has been the Assistant Network Administrator at CMDA since April 2008. Some of his duties include maintaining the network, servers, workstations, printers and other technology resources at CMDA. Boyce has a beautiful wife Lisa and two boys that keep their lives very interesting. What many people may not know is that Boyce loves to fish and is currently building his first (and last) house. Boyce says, "I love working at CMDA because of the people. Everyone is so nice and it's a great place to work."
Image John Brotherton is currently serving as Database Administrator. John has worked with associations since 1999 and is very familiar with the technical needs of the companies he serves. John is a native of Middle Tennessee and has two degrees from Tennessee Technical University (Marketing 94, Management Information Systems 99). Before moving to East Tennessee he lived a number of years in Nashville and has told staff in the office that he does not miss the traffic.

He is a Vietnam veteran with two tours of duty in Southeast Asia as a radar technician. He enjoys the blessing of knowing the work he now does has a positive impact on the Kingdom of God. Also as a veteran of various Bluegrass gospel and Southern gospel bands, he loves harmony vocals, and can even half way pick a banjo!

Life & Health

Image

Sandy Huron is the Medical Malpractice Ministry Liaison for CMDA, the Inventory Specialist for Life & Health Resources and the Continuing Education Support Specialist, assisting Barbara Snapp with CE processing. Sandy has worked for CMDA since 1996, and wears those three distinctly different hats equally well, utilizing mercy, orderliness and attention to detail—all gifts from God. Sandy and her husband have been married since 1969 and are finally beginning to understand God’s design for marriage and life after all these years! One of their greatest delights has been the arrival of their first grandchild, who they visit regularly.

 Meetings

Image Melinda Mitchell has been with CMDA since 1999 and serves as the Meeting Manager for national conferences and events. She loves planning meetings but truly believes Proverbs 19:21 which states, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” And because of that it has become the mission of the Meetings Department to encourage, train and equip Christian doctors and students in their professional lives by providing continuing education in medicine and dentistry at home and abroad. Melinda came to CMDA after working 17 years as a Medical Lab Technician, which gave her considerable insight in the daily pressures experienced by physicians both in private practice and within the hospital setting, a great asset when working with our members. Melinda may appear sweet on the outside but be forewarned, you don’t want to get between her and her M&M’s when she’s having a chocolate attack!

Image Carol Wilson is part of Membership Services and came to CMDA in February 2004 as the Welcome Center receptionist. Carol is the primary contact for all incoming calls and is the first smiling face you will see if you visit our national office. She exudes a southern charm that is contagious and loves serving in the many diverse opportunities that come with her job responsibilities. Carol’s true worth is appreciated when it comes to serving the home staff - especially in ordering lunch and maintaining a full candy dish!

She enjoys spending time with family and traveling. However, she is a practical joker.
Image Allen Vicars has been the Director of Placement since 2002. He joined the CMDA staff as a Placement Specialist in July 1996. Prior to joining CMDA, Allen worked in recruitment and interviewing at the Virginia Employment Commission. He received his B.S. from East Tennessee State University and a Master's of Public Administration from James Madison University. His education and previous experience in recruiting has enabled him to possess a thorough understanding of the recruitment process. His department's ministry and goal is to bring together Christian physicians in practice where their lives and careers will advance the Kingdom and honor God by serving those searching for a position and practices looking for an associate.

Image Jamey Campbell returned to his home of East Tennessee in 2007 when he became the Vice President of Stewardship Development for CMDA. Jamey has spent the last 12 years in Development, most recently as Vice President of Development for Precept Ministries, an international ministry in over 140 countries. Jamey believes that the only thing that stands between where CMDA currently is and where we want to be is finances and that his job is to help facilitate that movement. Jamey’s responsibilities include supporting the efforts of CMDA’s members, raising money for its ministries, providing stewardship education for our membership and joining our area and regional staff to raise money to support their ministries. Jamey and his wife Janeen have two daughters and reside in the Tri-City area.
