The SCAN

 

A monthly digest for medical and dental missionaries, The SCAN is a newsletter sent free of charge to all Christian medical and dental missionaries who request it. Those copies of SCAN are read and reread, duplicated, copied, and shared with thousands of other health care personnel.

 

The purpose of SCAN is two-fold:

 

• to provide continuing education in "high-tech" medicine; and
• to provide information which is relevant to the third world.

The SCAN, which focuses on tropical diseases in many of its issues, is compiled by a team of dedicated CMDA members and staff after reviewing dozens of medical journals. Pertinent articles are also selected for reproduction in The SCAN. In addition, The SCAN answers specific questions and research needs from missionaries in a special HIPPO column.
