Voice of Christian Doctors

The Christian Medical & Dental Associations serve as the Voice of Christian Doctors on the vital health care issues of 21st Century medicine. From local radio interviews to testifying in Congress, members have opportunities to share biblical perspectives on bioethics and influence individuals to protect and preserve human life. Topics include physician-assisted suicide/euthanasia, end-of-life-care, abortion, reproductive technology, genetics, cloning, human embryo research, faith and health, future of medicine and missions.

Voice in the National News Media

CMDA is the trusted voice of Christian doctors for both Christian and secular news media. From the local to the national level, CMDA affords members opportunities to address important health care issues through print, radio, television and web-based news media.

Hands-on media training offers tools to sharpen corporate communication, public speaking and interview skills. Members participating in the media program represent CMDA in their fields of expertise.

CMDA experts have been featured in such national media as CNN, NBC, MSNBC, FOX NEWS, Washington Post, Washington Times, LA Times, USA Today, Christianity Today, National Public Radio, Janet Parshall's America, Prime Time America, America's Health Network and The Odyssey Channel.

Voice on Capitol Hill

CMDA also represents its members as a trusted voice in the nation's capitol. Members interested in public policy have opportunity to provide bioethical expertise and testimony for legislators. CMDA experts testify before the US Congress, provide Supreme Court briefs on bioethical issues and conduct grassroots campaigns to promote life-honoring legislation at the state level.

Healthwise Radio Public Service Announcements

CMDA has produced hundreds of Healthwise Public Service Announcements which air on over 400 Christian radio stations nationwide. These quality radio segments raise awareness about health care and bioethical issues. Special-edition PSA's are produced as needed for specific areas of the country involved in bioethical debates.

Print, Video and Audio News Releases

CMDA responds to breaking news on vital health care issues through print, video and audio news releases. These statements include quotes and interviews from CMDA doctors and are sent to hundreds of print and electronic media outlets across the country. CMDA public statements gain the attention of news directors, editors and program managers nationwide, and generate hundreds of media interviews each year. News & Views is a weekly electronic news brief serving CMDA members with concise summaries and thoughtful commentary on current bioethical and practice issues. It is also posted online at www.cmda.org under Resources and go to e-Newsletters.

Ethics Hotline

Available for CMDA members only, the Ethics Hotline provides colleagues with quick referral to expert bioethicists on the CMDA Ethics Commission. Call the National Service Center at 423-844-1000 or 888-230-2637 for details.

Educational Kits

Standards4Life - A free web resource that deals with the scientific and biblical issues surrounding tough bioethical issues in simple, easy-to-understand terms. Each "standard" features a summary of the issue, a glossary of terms, how to answer arguments, visual aids, scriptural guidance, links to additional resources and more. Standards4Life is available at the Christian Medical & Dental Associations' website at www.cmda.org under Resources and go to Publications.

Manufacturing Life - Informative. User-friendly. Graphically stimulating. Manufacturing Life is a bioethics resource from CMDA. It provides you with the tools you need to educate your family, friends and colleagues on every aspect of stem cell research, human cloning and genetics. You can adapt this for use in your church Sunday school or small group study, introduce it at a conference or use it simply as part of your personal study.

Mission Survival Kit - This resource will help not only medical personnel, but will equip anyone wishing to go on a short-term mission trip. The kit includes: a four hour tape series, Getting There and Back Safely, Crucial Cross Cultural Communication, Successful Spiritual Ministry, Maximizing Medical/Dental Outreach; a personal packing checklist; a handout on insect bite and malaria prophylaxis and much more.
