Keys to a Joyful Practice
Dr. J. Howard Carr had an active Christian ministry in the 1980s and
90s presenting practice management concepts from his Christian
perspective. His "Project Mustard Seed" ministry included live seminars,
a book, audio tapes and video tapes. He has since retired from practice,
but still speaks and writes. Some of those resources are still available
and may be timely for the needs of today's practicing dentist. Since
there are not many dental resources aimed at practice management from an
openly Christian viewpoint, CDA and Dr. Carr want to share some of these
resources with other Christian dentists. This is one man's faith journey
through life and dental practice. As Dr. Carr said, "This does not
contain all of the truth, but it does contain some of it". Our prayer is
that God may speak His Truth to you in some fashion as you read.
You may download this PDF file (below) for reading or printing at
home. Free audio file downloads are also available below. If you
prefer a bound copy of the book (187 pages), you may purchase it from www.lulu.com. At that
website (not associated with CMDA), type in the name of the author or
the book in the search block. Then you pay the printing company directly
for printing and shipping.
Dentists are often in situations where they are the only dentist in
their church or community. Their non-dental Christian brothers and
sisters do not understand the stresses, temptations, fears, and
frustrations of being a dentist. Often it is not easy to share when
everyone else thinks you are doing so well and have it all together
financially and spiritually. Hopefully if there are other Christian
dentists in your area, you make some conscious effort to meet together
for prayer, counsel, and encouragement. If you do not have that option,
we hope reading or listening to this information about dental issues
from a Christian dentist will allow God to work in your heart and mind
for the decisions, attitudes and actions best for you.
