Presently serving his first term in Congress, Phil Roe is a
leader in community involvement and public service. He represents
the First Congressional District of Tennessee.
Phil serves on three House Committees: Agriculture, Veteran Affairs
and Education and Labor. These committee assignments directly allow
Phil to address and influence the many issues that are important to the
First District farmers, students, teachers, veterans and
workers.
A native of Tennessee, he was born on July 21, 1945 in
Clarksville and now resides in Johnson City. He earned a degree in
Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Austin Peay in 1967 and he earned
his Medical Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1970. Upon
graduation, he served two years in the United States Army Medical
Corps.
As a physician, Phil has established himself as a leader in
healthcare while running a medical practice in Johnson City for 31
years, delivering close to 5,000 babies.
