About RSS/XML and Podcasting
Podcasting is available on www.cmda.org! Here is some helpful
information.
What is RSS/XML?
Short for RDF Site Summary or Rich Site Summary, an XML format for
syndicating Web content. Allows podcasting text to occur automatically
to your MP3 player. Tentative syndicated content includes such data
as press releases, events listings, headlines, News &
Views, Progress Notes, Today's Christian Doctor
and other CMDA publications.
What is podcasting?
Podcasts are audio clips that you can take with you.
A podcast is a means of distributing audio programs via the Internet
that lets you subscribe to a number of files, also known as "feeds", and
then hear or view the material when you choose. You may listen to
them from our website through your web browser, or you
may subscribe to our podcast "feed" via iTunes or other software. People
commonly listen to a Podcast on their iPod or other MP3 players.
Currently available digital audio files include Christian Doctor's
Digest and Life Support. (Christian Doctor's
Digest is currently only available through our website since this
is a CMDA members-only benefit. We have added our Life Support
podcast to iTunes.)
To listen to a podcast via your MP3 player, click on the XML icon for
the podcast you wish to listen to and copy the xml code into your
“podcatcher,” or podcasting client software that downloads
the audio file automatically to your computer.
Stay tuned for future details and updates on CMDA podcasts.
