Trip Details: Our sponsoring Church is The Copper-belt Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC) in Zambia and our in-country leader is Bishop Enocent Silwamba. Bishop Silwamba attended seminary in England and then returned to his people, leading them to renewal and revival. He is a wonderful man of God and a blessing to the people of Zambia and GHO.
The PHC will register all of our physicians, dentists, nurses and pharmacists which is quite a process in Zambia and requires a transcript from medical school, nursing school or pharmacy school. They will also secure clearance of our medications, supplies, equipment and instruments through customs. They are registered with the Registrar of Societies and thus have full duty-exemption status. Bishop Silwamba will work with us to establish all the in country logistics (travel, lodging and food). We will most likely stay in a local guesthouse with double occupancy rooms, which offer a clean environment with running warm/cold water (however, while in Zambia we all must use bottled water to drink and brush teeth).
The mission trip will take two weeks and on the middle weekend the team will have the opportunity to do sight seeing, shopping, and get some rest and recuperation. We will have the wonderful opportunity to worship with our brothers and sisters in Zambia and that is always a great joy.
To go on the mission a passport and a visa are required. In Zambia there are no vaccinations/immunizations required for entry. Immunizations that should be considered: first make sure that your routine immunizations are up to date (Tetanus, Pertussis and Diphtheria, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella) others to be considered are: Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B, Pneumococcal polysaccharide, meningococcal polysaccharide, typhoid, and Yellow Fever. It is wise to take prophylaxis against malaria (there is high level of chloroquine resistance in Zambia) so mefloquine, doxycycline or Malarone are the drugs of choice.
